Iana Dogel, PhD, MBA
President and Principal Consultant
Iana is the president of ConnexFund, a consulting firm that offers grant writing services for innovative companies and start-ups.
Starting out as a scientist, she quickly developed a fascination for technology start-ups and dedicated half of her career working with start-ups. Prior to becoming the president of ConnexFund, she developed and mentored technology-based start-ups, brought in new funding support that kept companies going, commercialized a micro-fluidic technology out of the University of Toronto, took nanotechnology-based start-ups to the international markets through a well-planned strategy (Europe, North and South America), and performed companies’ due diligence and technology assessments (nanotechnology and life sciences) for successful investments. In her role at the Government of Alberta, she successfully implemented complex government initiatives geared toward start-ups and technology (including the $130 million Alberta Nanotechnology Strategy).
She created ConnexFund with a sole goal to enable technology start-ups with what 99% of them desire but struggle to access: grants and funding. In her role as an Expert Reviewer for OCE and The European Commission, she provided her expert opinion on 141 grants with a total of over $84 million.
